Billing Information & Terminology
|
Allowed amount/Reasonable and customary – This the price the insurance is willing to pay for the service(s). Co-Pay/Co-Insurance – This is the dollar amount/percentage that is the patient’s responsibility for the service each time the service is performed. Deductible – This is an amount that must be paid by the patient each year before any payment will be issued by the insurance. The total deductible amount is stated in your insurance policy. Insurance Discount – This is the discount we give the insurance companies we "participate" with. We accept their price since we have a contract with them. If we do not have a contract with a particular insurance, we are entitled to receive our billed amount (whether from the insurance or patient). Insurance Paid – This is the amount of money that we actually received from insurance. Participating/In-Network - This means we have a written contract with a particular insurance or network. Because of this, we accept their allowed amount instead of our usual charge. Usually, this affords the patient the highest benefit level from their insurance. Contact Email: billing@kentpathology.com
